Global Fishing Watch in the U.K.

Harnessing transparency and technology to protect the ocean

What we do

Global Fishing Watch is dedicated to advancing ocean governance by fostering transparency of human activity at sea. We envision a world where transparency helps maintain effective governance of marine resources, ensuring a healthy, productive and resilient ocean for all.

Using satellite technology and machine learning, we turn complex data into actionable information—and we make it freely available to everyone. By democratizing data and providing insights into global fishing activity, we seek to generate new knowledge about the ocean that can accelerate science and drive fairer, more informed policies.

Working in the U.K.

At Global Fishing Watch, our commitment to transparency and sustainability extends to all regions of the world—where decisions are made and where decisions matter.

By working closely and collaboratively with policymakers, industry stakeholders, academics and civil society in the U.K., we foster a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our ocean and the actions needed to address them. The insights generated by our UK and global team help policymakers and fisheries managers make informed decisions to sustainably manage fishing activity, enforce regulations and protect marine ecosystems.
